テレ東朝4時に思うこと
平日の朝5時から酔っぱらいモードです。
★東京/関東の人にしか分からない話?
テレ東のこの時間(4:48)は、ひたすら最近のはやり音楽を流し続けてる。モーニング娘。ファン(とても自分のことをマニアと言う資格はない)には興味深い映像も流れたりしてるけど。安倍なつみの妹が出てたりとか。今度のミニモニ。は、わかんなくもないけど本来のコンセプトを外し過ぎてはいないか。と言ってもそんなことは百も承知でやってるんだろうけど。
そんなことはともかく、これを眺めていてわかるのは、今の日本には、「流行」はないか、とてつもなく分割されてるってことだ。どの音楽を聴いても、それなりに背景があるし、歴史を引きずっていて、ある意味で正当性を持ってるように思える。でもどれが正しいなんていうことはないし、どれに乗ればいいかなんてわからない。多分、この中から何かを選ぶとすれば、好み・生理・偶然なんかに寄るんだろう。もちろんメディアの戦略がどのくらいうまいかによって、思わずそれに乗っちゃうということもあるだろう。(最近、東さんがよく取り上げるテーマだ)
じゃあ、あんまり教養もなく、全てのことを熟慮の末選ぶような体力もない平凡な市民(ぼくのことです)は何をどんな風に選んだらいいのか。いくつかの方法がある。
1) 初めに見たモノに乗る。
これは実際、よく起こっていることだし、別に悪いことでもないように思う。
2) 本気で自分に合う音楽は何か、尊敬できるものは何かを、きちんと評価して選ぶ。
小市民には無理です。ていうか、ぼくには無理です。音楽の才能ないのかも。
3) 誰かが勧めてくれたモノに乗る。
3-1) 信頼している誰かが勧めてくれたモノに乗る。
これは、実は結構いい方法だと思えます。人が何かに投入できるエネルギーというのは限られていて、それを音楽に投入する人もいれば、政治学に投入する人もいれば、情報社会学に投入する人もいるし、インターネット技術動向に投入する人もいます。一人で全てをカバーすることはできない。フィーリングの合う他の分野が好きな人を事前に選んでおいて、その人の選択に従うというのは、なかなか合理的かも知れない。
3-2) マスコミに乗る。
世の中には、ものを流行らせようとして大変なコストをかけている人たちがいる。それに乗れば、とりあえず流行は押さえられるだろう。これも意外と合理的だ。なんというか、知的で自立した個人を目指す人には、許し難い行為かも知れないけど、もともとそんな人は多くない。
4) 気分で乗る。
サイコロでも振って決めるか、なんとなくおもしろいなーと思ったらそれに突っ込んでいって飽きたらやめてみる。
うーん、考えれば考えるほど、確立した自己を持って、自分の選択を責任もってすることは不可能だと思えてなりません。人の能力には物理的限界がある。
ちなみに、ぼくの行動は多分、4)に一番近いです。理由など考えることもなく、おもしろいなと思ったら突っ込んでいって、飽きたらやめる。もし人間の生理に詳しい、大衆をコントロールしようと思う大きな存在(例えば国家とか企業?)がいたとすれば、一番容易にコントロールされるタイプかも知れない。東さんならこういう反応を「動物化」と呼ぶかも知れない。
しかし、問題は全ての問題に合理的な判断ができるかということだ。それにはコストがかかるし、そもそも原理的に不可能な場合が圧倒的に多い。そういう場合、人は動物的に行動する以外にどんな方法があるというのか? 社会に選択肢が増えるほど、実は動物的な選択を余儀なくされる場面が多くなる。なぜなら、本当に合理的な判断を行うために投入できるエネルギーはもともと限られているからだ。
社会や人間ってむずかしいなー。
